Does anyone buy cake stands without covers to use as ... cake stands? I can't see ever using one (unless it's to display something other than a cake).

We do modified Navy showers. It's just too dang cold to completely shut off the water when shampooing, shaving, etc. But, it's pretty easy to find a shower head that has a low-flow switch to turn d...

I've seen one like that (also for hot water for tea) from China, except it's a little boy peeing. If you fill it with hot water, it pees. Otherwise, I think it just holds water.

I love this house and so many of its great details! Where did the curtains from photo #1 and the orange towel from photo #5 come from? Anyone know?

I think a lighter khaki (almost cream) would work well as a neutral that the orange and yellow could really pop against. And why are you against white again? We have orange near a hal...

I bought IKEA Billy bookcases and just ignored the backs of the kit. They looked cheap and flimsy anyway, and now I can see my pretty orange wall through the cases.

Bamboo and spider plants haven't died in my neglectful home yet ... and, like other posters, I would love to see a list that includes more than one plant that's not harmful to pets.

I agree with jooly. These spaces look adorable and affordable, but I guess I am too high-maintenance for communal bathrooms.

The gray sheets are perfect! For dirty hipsters.

After looking at the links, I am pretty sure they used the BioBag brand. Speaking of BioBags, has anyone used these?

A friend of mine ordered these for his wedding reception, and they are beautiful with a satisfying texture and VERY sturdy. They don't look "dirty" at all. The plates they used were a light cream c...

What a great place! Very cool, with lots of personal touches that make it warm and inviting. I love that the "private eye" vibe comes through without hitting anyone over the head with literal (chee...

Zolo is one of my all-time favorite brands of kids' toys. Durability and endless amounts of inspiration for the imagination.

I grew up in a "charcoal-only" home and my dad has used one as long as I can remember. It usually helps to kind of roll the newspaper into long crinkly chunks instead of just crumpling them up into...

Gorgeous! But yikes, how do they do those stairs during icy winters?

I LOVE this stuff. I would definitely prepare it on a skillet or griddle though. It crisps up the outside very nicely. (Microwaving it is akin to trying to make s'mores with microwaved marshmallows.)

Wow. SO much negativity here. I'm not sure if the room's owner will see this, but I really like that you went all-in with your style, and that you've got a great mix of color, texture and layering....

My personal taste says "Paint! Now! Paint!" but I strongly dislike knotty, overwhelming wood. However, knowing it's a country house ... if you plan on reselling this anytime soon, I know in the "No...

Madison has been open about a month. We northerners brave the cold air for the biggest producers-only farmers' market in the nation!
