By far, my favorite Mardi Gras throw...right up there with "carnival crystal" (a.k.a plastic krewe cups).
I was at an outdoor cooking class and a fellow classmate offered me his spar...
This is a good reminder to me to think things through before planting food stuffs in my backyard. New Orleans is lousy with lead contamination.
Your yard is lovely.
Maybe I'm just not feeling how Apple can be remotely comfortable in that space. Since it's *Apple's Room* you'd think it would be a space that would be reflective of Apple's needs and desires. Ca...
We're in the process of buying a corner store in New Orleans and the first thing the architect said to me when he got out of his car was "imagine the crawfish boils you're going to have on this sid...
Okay, in the final analysis, I found all the seeds rather off-putting; however, my 9 year old can't get over the cool factor of a hot pink cake. For me, it was just meh...and the frosting was a ta...
I thought the same thing about the "green worms." When I was a girl I once found one inside a Brussels sprout and was terrorized for years about eating both Brussels sprouts and worms.

We live a block off the Uptown parade route in New Orleans, and oh! I wouldn't change it for the world. It's great to go down to St. Charles and visit with the neighbors over box wine or milk pun...
We have both the narrow and the standard 30" version to the 10' ceiling in our upstairs library. Full of medical and law books in a humid environment (New Orleans) and we've never had a moment's t...
Ah, we have two pictures from our wedding in our bedroom, but we have our invitation matted on robin's egg blue silk in an antique silver frame in our formal living room. The invitation is really ...
My mother-in-law apparently thinks that by baking my daughter her own 3D Build A Bear Fairy Princess cake I can feel confident that it won't be all doom and gloom about mommy at the therapist's off...
I suppose I should have mentioned that there are several different style glass covers - from weird plates to old "schoolhouse" lights. That's the sort we have in our house. More a bowl than a plate.
Yes, that light is just missing it's milk glass cover. And probably the little decorative nut that holds the cover in place.
Of course, if you want something totally different...see...
Yep, we just use our microfibers attached our Swiffers. They are hella grungy, but they still clean the unbelievable amounts of dust and fluff balls that tend to accumulate in a 120 year old hous...
Having painted a door green (after I don't even want to mention how many test pots) keep in mind the natural light at your door. We finally decided on a color that looked great - deep, rich - in t...
We live in a 2950 sq. ft house in New Orleans which has zero storage since our attic is full of the necessities of modern living - like water heaters, air handlers - so we've had to do the purging ...

We baked one today; however, the cooking time for us was significantly more than 30 minutes.
You can make a very delicious chicken or vegetable stock in a crockpot overnight. I do buy my beef and veal stocks at my locally owned gourmet shop.

My 9 year old *still* loves this book. We take cooking classes at our local kitchen shop.
