Yes, their mark ups are HUGE! I've seen bedding sets by John Robshaw, and at least in those I saw that he took traditional Indian printed textiles & matched them rather interestingly. In these pict...
Thanks so much for showing us your beautiful home. Your home is an inspiration to me - it has a timeless appeal, looks comfortable, lived-in and something that is possible to achieve without spendi...
very imaginatively conceived & neatly executed. My only negative comment is that, in the pictures at least, the stairway looks narrower & smaller. In the original picture it was bland, but more ope...
I second the Elfa storage solution. You can also get it in the freestanding option so there is zero drilling holes in the wall. It's more expensive than the Ikea solution though.
You can easily make simple things like the cutting board, or a wall-mounted shelf. Lumber supply stores like Owls (there's one in Des Plaines and Lombard) have a section where they sell small piece...
I think this is good info for a lot of us. It looks like a lot of people on this site have the good fortune to inherit treasures passed on, have an eye & patience for shopping antiques.

It was a novelty, ...
Looks like I'm the first one to say "yes" for the square basis coffee table from R&B. Reasons:
1. I have it & LOVE it. It's very well made. If you think it's too big go for the rectangular on...
I watched the beginning of the show when they described the challenge & immediately began designing in my head. I thought the Moroccan-Italian one would be so interesting to do (everyone's got a mo...
How about the elfa storage system from the container store? It's completely flexible, way easier to move than a wardrobe, and they have ones with nice wood fronts which are flaunt-worthy (or regula...
Not sure about the Nelson reproductions. Dania has it too for around 250, and while online it was comparable to the original, it was a disappointment when I saw it in the store. I had actually gone...
My grandparents had one in their home - a common traditional Indian one. It had two "beams" across the bed on the canopy, maybe to hold the mosquito net better. But for us cousins, we'd drape bedsh...
We recently upgraded ours and went for ones in Home Depot. The problem with metal rods is that they are too flimsy when you expand them out. Also, if you're planning to use curtain rings (we did), ...
Love the place, especially the kitchen - it's looks super functional & clean. I love white in kitchens and bathrooms - they feel very sanitary.
Where are all the light fixtures from, the ones...
What a coincidence - I just got the new catalog in my mail this evening. My favorite piece is the plexiglass end table with the chrome tulip base. It's pictured in the "merimekko kikku bed linen" p...
That really does look great. I was wondering, would you be able to clip it on a bulb that's lays on the wall? I have an old fashioned cieling fixture & was thinking if I remove the glass cover & at...
The wood shavings lamp, from the pictures at least, seems to be a very simple DIY project. You can get the electric part at ikea/home depot & then wood veneer edge banding from home depot or places...
I bought one of these too, but it's teflon effect wore off completely after I used it for priming.
I think pinko is right, I've got a regular one too & that peels off well enough, & what doe...
