ElleBee: I'm sure there are differing opinions out there, but my understanding (from my doctor) is that any cheese that's pasteurized is fine. I'm pregnant, and I frequently eat goat cheese.
I'd love to know where the shelves came from- those brackets are so simple and unobtrusive. Anyone know? And FYI the paint color is listed above: Behr Balmy Seas.
Iona: No, we are never paid for any endorsements at the Kitchn. I just discovered Liberte (where have I been?) and wanted to pass on a new favorite find...
Pixie: You'd still need to cook the veggies for a while to get them nice and soft. You may not need as much time to infuse them with the pork flavor, but it'll probably take 30 mins to get them soft.
rosebud: Yes, it is different than regular whole wheat flour. I found it in the bulk bins at Whole Foods, but I believe King Arthur and Bob's Red Mill both make it.
@chris63: I'd freeze them before you bake them. I have a feeling the flakiness of the crust would be lost if you froze them, whereas uncooked pie dough freezes beautifully.
And yes, y...
I have the Cuisinart one and love it. It's durable (so far- had it six months) and you almost don't have to wash it, it's so easy to wipe clean. Perfect for eggs, and yet it will also brown things ...
rosebud: It is salty, but in a good way! Not overly so. You could always cut down on the olives and put in some chickpeas, if you want. Or add more peppers. Also, if you have some parsley lying aro...
I have the bowl-lift and I love it. I haven't used them side by side, but I believe the bowl on the bowl-lift model is bigger, and I find it smoother and less cumbersome to lift/lower the bowl than...
@pedalpowered: To get the slices, you need to use one of the attachment blades that probably came with your food processor. Instead of sitting down in the bowl like the normal blade, it's a disk th...
Laura- It is hard to describe without saying "it just tastes like an artichoke." But a fresh one has a mild flavor- a very "green" taste with a hint of sweetness. Maybe a cross between an asparagus...
@gormandizzy: Yes, Hummingbird cake is very similar, although all of the versions I've made have pineapple and are more moist than this cake.
@Indy Jeffrey: Obviously my friend knew it...
@skorky64: True, you are just going to put them in water. I find it's easier/more pleasant to slice something that's not soaking wet (less likely for your knife to slip).
@xieta: creme...
Funny, I'm watching TV right now and just saw an ad for Vote for Wine. How timely! It's getting serious, apparently. Thought I'd update all of you: the ad says it was paid for by Wegmans.
sils: Click on the link for the dill and yogurt chicken salad, above. It's got a little mayo, but mostly yogurt, so you could probably go all yogurt, no mayo. As for the mustard in this recipe, you...
Faith- I like the look of sisal (or a jute/wool blend, which is much softer), which keeps it neutral. But then you can throw a smaller (4x6 or 5x7) on top, under the coffee table. I did something s...

eprewitt: I think it's a 6-inch cake, which might be single serving in my house, but I'm sure it's meant to serve 2-3 people.

happiness: no, it's not. It does look a little more yellow in the photos, but it's orange- a color that's been around a while.
