I consider all the junk furniture I was given when needing to furnish my first apartment a couple years ago as "placeholder." Bedside tables included. They're rather gross, actually.
My thermostat just happened to be in the perfect location to have a floor lamp in front of it.
I used a floating shelf with a picture frame on it to hide the intercom/buzzer, though....

I put removable hooks on the inside of the door of my medicine cabinet to hang necklaces. Earrings go in a cute little box, also tucked in the med cabinet. That way they're out of sight to guests...

I'm loving the neutral backdrop and the lightness of some of the pieces. The toy car is very cute :) But I agree that it looks a bit cramped. But I think it's because the furniture is too blocky....

It's not that bad. But the pinkish brown bedspread, pillowcases and art are killing me. You need to add cool tones to balance the warm oak.

The full spectrum (mimics daylight) CFLs are awesome! It really made a difference in my kitchen β which gets absolutely no natural light. It's still rather ugly, but it's not as bad....
I havent' really collected anything since I was a kid. But I totally let go of the Beanie Babies and Calico Kittens figurines. (Although I think my dad packed them away to store indefinitely.)
