Interesting that people are concerned about this. I can see where everyone is coming from of course, but at my university, everyone ate everything imaginable in every class. It was never an issue...
My dad is an architect and loves nothing more than knocking down walls. The building them up again takes a while (he runs his own practice, so he's busy), but basically, renovation is a constant p...
Rather than fight with traffic, I cycle to and from work on Vancouver's famous sea wall. I pass the new Olympic Village, weave through the parks and townhomes of False Creek, and cut past Granvill...
Rangoli is great for the meals, and for buying the spices as a souvenir, but if you want lots of great Indian spices for cheap, cheap, cheap, head up to Fruitcana on South Fraser, or to the Punjabi...
That photo was taken at Oyama Sausage at the Granville Island Market in Vancouver! Next time you're in Vancouver, another great place to check out the cheeses is Les Amis du Fromage. There is one...
Do other people here really think it's necessary to tell your landlord you are going out of town? I've never even considered this before (but I'm a new renter).
My friend brought me back two big chunks of pink Himalayan salt from Tokyo, but mine didn't come with a grater. I haven't used it yet because I'm afraid it'll dull or scratch my rasp!
Tiamat_the_Red, why shouldn't you know what P.E.I. stands for? I know all the names of States (though like that episode of Friends, it would take me a long time to list them all without repeating ...
I spent 6 weeks in Prato, a suburb of Florence, about 4 years ago. It is a sleepy, but very beautiful little (but not that little - 2nd largest in Tuscany!) town, about 20 minutes by train from Fl...
I keep mine in a large tupperware or ice cream bucket in the fridge. I suppose this wouldn't work for a family, but with only two of us and a big fridge, we only use one of our two crisper drawers...
I love the way the pile of homemade cushions looks! I've been thinking about floor pillows for a while as a way to address the fact that there is only room for seating for three in my living room.
I'm in Vancouver, which has one of the most ridiculous rental and housing markets in Canada. I'm pretty lucky - I'm paying $1200 for a two-bedroom basement suite near the beach that has a number o...
I'm totally with you on the Murphy's Oil Soap. I loved it when my mum busted that stuff out to clean the buffet in our living room, and this post has totally made me want to go buy some so I can cl...
I live a half-block away from Vancouver's most popular beach, Kitislano, as well as North America's longest outdoor pool. I am within walking distance (a long walk, but doable) to downtown Vancouv...
I saw an idea sort of like this once. I can't remember where, but it suggested cutting paint chips into individual squares and putting them together on a sheet with contact paper to create a colou...
I collect my scraps in a plastic ice cream bucket and keep the bucket in my fridge, which totally eliminates smells in the kitchen. Luckily I have the room - we have a huge fridge and there are on...

Arancini is great, but it really only works with left over risotto. Plain white rice won't have the right consistency or flavour, I think.
Maybe use the small, Coleman camping propane canisters? Obviously not a lot of propane, but they'll be easy to hide when you're done!

To be fair, the lady in the flip flops is just spreading the sand, and that is the only step at which she is pictured.
