This is not a new idea -- Frigidaire had similar fold-up units (albeit electric) in the '50s. Seems like a good idea, to me, although these particular units look a bit clunky.

I hope no one interprets the photograph to mean you shouldn't buy longer warranties on laptops (many of which come with a year or less, standard). I have never owned a laptop that did not need som...

So...the bathroom of tomorrow is the bathroom of today with a couple of plasma screens, funky lighting, and bad '80s neon art? Also, wouldn't that toilet paper holder keep the lid from...

Very nice! Dave, that split loom is available in white if you look around -- it would entirely disappear against your wall, I'd think.

Didn't think I'd like it based on the thumbnails, but the detail of the wood is stunning. The styling isn't fantastic, though -- needs some art or something, and the curtains are lifel...

Yeah, that little plugin thing will /never/ get lost.

nouniard, would you mind sharing where you got the printing done? $3 for a 5x7 from a vector file seems reasonable.

I bought a SodaStream "Pure" a few months ago -- it's a new, more attractive model that uses the screw-on plastic bottles. For me the size of the Penguin bottles and the expense of the machine wer...

I think this succeeds because it's just boxes and frames -- the concept is straightforward, and the intricacy of the frames plays well against the starkness of the boxes.

The funniest thing was when it went on the market a few years ago and advertised its brand new, state-of-the-art, soulless kitchen as a huge plus! mschatelaine, I'm with you on that on...

Yeesh. That thing would be overpriced at $150. It's no more complicated than a standard alarm clock, really.

slowdown: but I'll bet they don't hold up as well. The key caps I've used get grungy, then brittle, then fall apart, and often keep the key from fitting the lock properly.

I said 50s. The copper lamp was actually a big factor -- copper was big in the 50s, and that lamp is the sort of adjustable lamp you'd generally see over a kitchen table, repurposed. And the wall...

Less is more, but nothing is still nothing. To me, minimalism works only when everything in the room is perfect. A pared down space shines light on everything that remains; if those o...

Me three! Please, AT, tell us what the wall is!

$6.95 per pound is "mid-priced" pasta? On what planet? I wish they had tested a few more mainstream brands -- De Cecco in particular has done well in a lot of other tastings.
