yes, the midpoint of the frames should be at eye level or lower... the way their hung now, it makes your ceilings look lower than they probably are. great job though!
maybe jut hand some art on that wall above the shelf... i would be too nervous that any objects you put up there would fall... but i live in an earthquake zone.
i have the classic century and really only use it for special occasions, so i'm not sure how it holds up for daily use. i have always like heath ceramics and it seems quite durable.
