It's possible that those tiles were covered up because they are in poor shape, or there are some missing. So I'd have a Plan B: what if you remove the wallpaper and the tiles are in a bad state?

If you are short of space, consider an 18-inch-wide dishwasher. They're about half the price of the drawer models but still fit plenty.
