These are all classically styled homes. Paint your 1970's or 1980's split foyer yellow and you're in for trouble. These people were just trying to be historically accurate!
Check your local architectural salvage store or craigslist in the materials section. You probably can find an old door (in good condition) and get someone to cut and sand it down to fit your jamb.
