I've been looking for a reasonably priced public school-style clock like the one in picture #3. Where's a good place for something like that? Craigslist has been a bust.

First or third. The second one is an awful picture and, in general, people who take terrible careless pictures also sell junk. I'll bet that it looks a lot worse in person than it does in the photo.

Aesthetic considerations aside, most definitely eye-level while seated.

I can't believe it's still there. I remember my dad dragging me into that place when I was a little kid.

Cats like peeing on bath mats, especially those with rubber backs. I seriously doubt it's a sign of health or behavioral problems. Get a bath mat that's all cloth and I'll bet he stops.

Solid wood is often lighter than veneer. You can probably get the paint scrapes off pretty easily. Very light scrubbing with steel wool should get them off.

I think hardwood floors are probably the most important. They may cost a little more initially but carpet is almost guaranteed to be ruined by every tenant who lives there, and it looks awful anyw...

I kind of prefer the "Georgetown" flea market (in Arlington, near Courthouse metro stop) to Eastern Market. Prices are a little better and the stuff is often more interesting.

"I thought it would be warm, like sunlight, but it's so not." Sunlight is actually much, much cooler and more bluish than bulbs used in the home. Daylight or 65k bulbs are meant to ap...

I've always heard that you shouldn't use Murphy's on floors with a polyurethane finish (which is the most common).
