Sponge user here. Addicted to the green scrubby side. At the end of the week, I use it to deep clean the kitchen, all surfaces, then floor, and then I toss it. Sponges have a limited shelf-life, an...
If you're not sure if you might be "crying wolf" just ask the dispatcher. "Hey, is this the kind of thing I should report?" They'll be open about whether it is or it isn't.

I agree with the suggestions above. I'd also get rid of those heavy brass light fixtures, and go with a modern, silver-colored metal fixure. Or spray-paint the ones you have black or white dependin...
As an addendum to the above, donating money (in some situations) also allows aid organizations to buy supplies locally. Of course, that's not always feasible, but when it is, it means that your mon...
How many here have had their housed robbed even though the doors were locked? Lots I suspect. I still lock because it makes me *feel* safer, but it won't actually prevent anything from happening.
Fruit leather! Mix 3-4 parts unsweetened apple sauce with 1 part jam. It's not precise - usually I mix a medium-ish jar of apple sauce with one jar of jam. Dehydrate until no longer sticky.
The man has exhibited at the Venice Biennial. If these were for sale, no one here could possibly afford them. Please stop evaluating everything on the "Would I buy it for my wall" metric. Half the ...
Um, I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but Hazelton is an ARTIST, not a designer. He's interested in the very things you're making fun of - household decay, detritus, debris - and using that material ...
Fire isn't the only way to lose something so saying "oh, this isn't fire proof" doesn't stop it from doing the job it's supposed to do - preventing theft. My house has been cleaned out before, and ...
Try looking at an Ethiopian cookbook. They have a lot of wonderful, savory mushes (for lack of a better word). Usually eaten with a flat bread, but you could leave that out.
Look for a flat-woven rug. I was shocked by how many great options there were (within our price range) when I left the hooked rugs behind. They definitely need a rug underlay though so factor that ...
I have square (well, rectangular) plates, and I'm growing tired of them after three years. One disadvantage is that typical plating schemes don't really work on square dish so presentation requires...
We accidently ended up with a catalog living room for our first house. A friend walked in and said "Oh, this reminds me of Restoration Hardware!" Oops :(
To avoid that this time, we s...
Honestly, other people's homes are none of your business. This includes: how often they change their sheets; how often they wash their towel; what they eat for breakfast; which couch and throw pill...

If they're in good shape, I put them in water in a vase. Makes a pretty arrangement and the strong splash of green is a nice change from flowers.

Yes, they're very bitter. There's no sweetness to it at all. I can't really imagine eating them plain anymore than I'd snack on coffee beans.
I use them with dried raspberries in homemade granola.
