we have reluctantly instituted this practice due to the drought and a general push toward less consumption. it's not as bad as i would have thought. but no asparagus! ew, i know.

after breaking one of the twirly kind and seeing the outrageous price of the rabbit, i found the swing-a-way (love them) version of the waiter's corkscrew and can't believe i hadn't used one before...

i like parsley, but i have made two dishes where it is a main ingredient in a sauce (broccoli pasta linked from this site and a lasagne from epicurious) and HATED both - could not stand that much p...

words to look up: couche, boule, banetton :) i have just gotten into making yeast breads (for some reason i thought it was hard?) so i'll have to look into these - so far it's mostly b...

my problem is that i can sometimes find things for great prices that work as-is (like the 6'x8' kilim rug i found on CL for $15 this week - ha!) but i am the worst at looking at an item and thinkin...

thanks! she has a zillion photos - i was having a hard time finding it!

i have had great luck with two, uh, bottom-shelf grocery store wines that were not mentioned here: Rex Goliath and Cycles Gladiator California Cabernet Sauvignons. plus, they have pretty labels, wh...

maybe i'll try one of these - i've never had anything made with lavender that didn't taste like some kind of cosmetic! ick. it reminds me of bergamot in earl grey, which i also dislike - like my te...

I'm going to try to make this incredible salad I had at a restaurant last weekend - frisee with a really simple (shallot?) vinaigrette, served with a fried egg on top and really crispy thin sourdou...

hey it's about time! :)

i have to say that my $150 ikea hogbo mattress has been the mooost comfortable one i can remember. my mom even loves it - it'll be the guest bed when she visits! so i would try their pillows any da...

i always find that handwashing with a heavy-duty ("pots and pans") scrub sponge or just a plastic scrubbie gets them off just fine - but i bet that baking soda would work just as well as toothpaste...
