I did the black chalkboard paint backsplash last year and absolutely love it! It made such a dramatic difference in my tiny kitchen.

I do the "closet storage/pull it out and use the kitchen table to sew method." It is a PAIN but alas, there's no room in my tiny place for a permanent sewing table. Some day, some day...

I agree with bepsf, I wouldn't be able to pull off a no-medicine cabinet bathroom due to space concerns. It is possible to frame out your medicine cabinet with moulding.

brooklynjennie, they do...it's called IKEA (I kid!). Seriously though, it's tough to run an independent store in NY and price things affordably given the overhead involved.
