Three cheers for Nordstrom's! I knew I liked them for a reason. @Djluckyonline, I think it's more that stores hope you'll start shopping for the holidays early and thus spend more tha...

If you have one near you, Beverly's craft store always carries a ton of baskets and they're always 50% off marked price. TJMaxx has been a good source for me, too.

I knew! I think I've read of him before, though. I desperately want one of those prints now.

I think it's super cute! I even like your "odd railing" (I would embrace it and call it a Widow's Walk). You can start with more plantings around the house. Someone at your local nur...

@timmytom82, how can anyone not have lamps? I rarely see apartments with overhead lighting and even if it's there, it's not enough light! The only thing I really have multiples of i...

Oo, I love these, although I suspect I would spend a lot of time holding them rather than letting them hold the books. They just look so touchable!

@msjessiemeghan, as someone who's father worked most Thanksgivings, I feel I need to say you clearly haven't thought of the restaurant staff. They want to be home with family like you're supposed ...

I like a mix of landmarks and street names (and in the case of "Getting to My Place from the North" suggested lane to be in). I tend to give directions with street names first and include "It's th...

Mostly clothes. I have these shoes, the ones I'm wearing today, actually, that I saw in a shop while I was on vacation. I didn't try them on. I didn't buy them. I knew I didn't need green shoes...

I usually wash mine by folding a soapy dishsponge around the knife from the back (flat) side and scrubbing down the length of it. Works like a charm and I've never been cut that way.

@Thierrys, I love you for that reference. I have to agree with msjessiemeghan regarding the "man cave" idea. It drives me nuts, although one of my female friends who just bought a hou...

I shut the lid on my laptop and it hibernates at night. This is laziness on my part rather than any concern for the life of the computer. When was the last time your computer actually failed befo...

If I drank hot drinks, I'd keep the Tension Tamer in the house at all times. I first bought it for the art, but the soothing minty taste was really nice.

This is genius. I might steal Robin Sue's idea but use mini muffin tins instead for Christmas presents.

I don't get those urges, except in the "Augh, get rid of the clutter!" kind of way. I'm very attatched to my furniture, some of it I purchased in high school and have adored ever since. I tend to...

Ellenacious, get a cactus or succulent. They'd do just fine with minimal watering and look really cool. Or stick an air plant in. I think this is pretty cool!

I wouldn't call that one a knockoff at all. It's pretty obviously NOT meant as a sauceboat and Eva, whoever she is, is not the only person to have ever though of that gathered at the top look. As...

@hulahulagirl, I bet if you looked in any big city, you could find someone. We're just spoiled and like things to show up at our door. I know there's a guy who sharpens knives at the Ferry Buildi...

I made persimmon cookies for the first time yesterday. I had no idea persimmon puree gelled! If you're going to make them, don't make my mistake, pour the puree out of the blender IMMEDIATELY or ...

My folks ordered one of these one year from LL Bean. It looked fantastic, and didn't drop needles if I recall correctly. It DID continue to relax for a while, so the ornaments would move lower ov...
