Ghosthunters from the SciFi channel has investigated all three of the locations mentioned in the main post. Definitely found activity in all three places! I recall a particularly creepy incident ...

Look in second hand furniture stores for glass top display tables. Ones where you actually have a visible lower storage/display area, rather than just a table with a sheet of glass on top. That w...

Please, oh please, price it. For all the reasons already stated. I don't want to insult you by unknowingly lowballing. I don't want to haggle. I'm not there to chat and probably have other sales...

Well, it's almost 2 feet wide. So, not as wide as most tables, but wide enough to use for dining if you had to. The dimensions are listed as: 23.5” wide x 79” long x 29” tall

Another vote for white. I think that would look lovely and take advantage of the light.

Oops. My plus signs in my post disappeared. Magic! But basically, I'm thinking lighting the candles on that chandalier is asking for trouble.

Hmm. What would appear to be a cardboard chandalier candles fire = bye bye apartment. Pretty, but I sure as heck hope it wasn't intended to be functional.

Dumb question. Not being all that adept at tending plants, does rust enter into the equation when you plant inside a metal container like that? To what end? I certainly like the look of it!

Guess it depends upon your friends and your family, eh marie516? Hee, hee. At least in my family, I'd only lend to my parents. But you're point is well taken. Sometimes friends are more trustwo...

Yup. Here's the post about upholstery spray: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/how-to/how-...

With anything that expensive, I would only consider housing it with family. As marcspice points out, just because you're friendly today doesn't mean things won't change. Also, if something happen...

We here that the original documentary The Beales of Grey Gardens (1976) is the one to watch. You probably meant "hear." Those homonyms'll getcha every time! :-)

I should amend that. I always try reasoning when I know I can do so without endangering myself. In fraise's situation, I would have been on the phone so quickly your head would spin.

fraise, you did the right thing. Safety above all else. I'm a single woman as well. I had a HUGE problem with a couple of grad students next door to me. Forget quiet after 10. It...

ChrisGal, the ashtray is for strangers/friends of friends who smoke. I mean, you can forbid smoking on your porch. It's yours and it's your right. But outside, if a person is smoking respectfull...

I'm with prettypresley, too. Particularly the second option (just IMHO).

We used blow torches from Home Depot in the restaurant where I worked to crystalize the creme brulees. That was the most awesome part of my job. Firing up that puppy and pointing it at the brulee...

Not a great place for a litterbox, IMHO. As ashes88 points out, not a welcome smell upon first entering a home. And let's face it, there will be times you bring a friend home and haven't had a ch...

Ha! Excellent, Craftypants! We must have been sharing a brain the day we came up with that solution.

Since we've started talking litter solutions, I have mine under my bathroom sink, BUT behind a little curtain on a tension rod. Basically, I took the doors off the storage area under my sink. The ...
