I'm definitely in the thick comforter camp! And since I switched by young sons from piles of baby blankets to twin-size duvets, they have stopped waking up several times a night and calling for me...
My friend, who is an avid worm composter (how often do you see that phrase!?) just puts all her scraps into her blender. When it's full, she blends it up and dumps it in with the worms.
We have an IKEA leather sectional. It's 5 eyars old and looks like new. Sadly, they no longer offer it in (ultra-cool, doesn't-look-like-a-skeezy-batchelor-pad) blue.

I think a single chair in a floral can really lighten a room, particularly if the rest of the furniture is fairly heavy - that's what I'm hoping at least! I have a matching sofa and chair in oxblo...

Ethanol sounds ok, but please please be careful of those "tabletop flame" thingies that burn some sort of gel. They can explode, causing major damage.
