I was told you can put green tomatoes in a paper bag and they will ripen. An italian friend of my mother's makes pickled green tomatoes in vinegar and olive oil.

Hmmm, sounds interesting, but don't plants need sun?

I do love the smell of bacon, coffee and cinnamon in the morning, but my soft spot is definitely my mother's congee (rice porridge).

We go to this Brazilian restaurant and they do this shredded kale, garlic, vinegar, and oil salad and it's simple and delish.

My mom puts in them in a tub of water in the fridge and a few spoons of flour.

I agree I'm afraid to fry chicken as well. My best friend makes the best fried chicken so I leave it to her with promises of basil and salad in return. Other things I'm afraid of are ...

I swear by this pasta salad by Barefoot Contessa. With fresh ingredients this salad is heavenly. And it's one of those recipes that are easily expanded for larger parties of people. O...

Oh, I'd like to see you post about how each one tastes. I find the white one to be milder. I get a small allergic reaction to the deep purple ones.

Or is it asparagi (plural)

I always enjoy seeing photos of other people's garden, but Martha Stewart's and others similar to that I'm generally a bit skeptical. It's just not practical - It's a lot of work, maintenance, and...

It's also popular amongst Korean food to wrap beef in. You can find bunches of it at the korean food mart in Koreantown if you're in NYC. I grew it last year and it should come back this year bec...

I do this with all kinds of used plastic bottles. It keeps the plants shielded from cold winds and nibbling critters until it's large enough to be out of reach or out of danger.

This may seem silly, but my favorite childhood memory was having tea and a bowl of elbow macaroni in broth with my grandfather at sidewalk cafes in Hong Kong.

In addition to the above tips, store bought/started basil is usually very *root bound*. The roots eventually suffocate one another and you will know this is happening when the stems start turning ...

Crate and barrel has them. As of right now, Home Goods (marshall's) has them too. I bought one for $20.

Right now at Home Goods and Crate and Barrel, they are selling dispenser jars. They don't look as neat as these, but they made of glass and a little less expensive.
