Italian beef sandwiches with sweet potato oven-baked fries. The rest of the rare beef is going into sandwiches for the car when we drive to Kentucky (from Illinois) tomorrow. I also hope to eat a l...
Anything in a Dutch oven: roaster chicken with all kinds of vegetables, chili, pizza, breakfasts with eggs and cheese and sausages, and the best cobblers known to man. (My boys used to be in Scouts...
We are having leftover grilled chicken thighs with cold sesame/peanut noodles (made with snap peas, carrots, green onions and bean sprouts). I put chili-garlic sauce and cilantro on mine too.
My new fridge is stainless, so there is nothing on the front of it. On the small side that is exposed, there is one clip holding pizza coupons, a stainless measure-equivalent thingy, and a calendar...
The most complicated dish I have ever made (and I have done it several times) is the mole Poblano from Rick Bayless' first cookbook, Authentic Mexican. It calls for 26 ingredients, and has numerous...
I do love my immersion blender for pureeing soups and sauces and and such...but then I succumbed to the allure of a late night infomercial and got myself one of those Magic Bullets. And guess what?...
I did my guest room in Benjamin Moore 2108-50, Silver Fox. The next darker is 2108-40, called Stardust. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I have black and deep red accents in chairs, lamp...
Yesterday I put the hibiscuses (with lobelia at the edges) in the big pots on the front porch. Then I planted ten pots of varying sizes with a mixture of flowering plants for the back deck. Then I ...
I got rid of a mess of them when we moved almost two years ago - gave them away or they went to the ongoing sale at the library. I kept my absolute favorites: the best Mexican, the best Italian, et...
The one I bought at the health food store is just a large mason-type jar with a screen insert on the screw-on lid. Screen, like window screen! I bet you could just cut some to fit inside a regular ...
I gave it a 'cool.' It might have been a 'super cool' if the kitchen matched the rest of the decor. That one picture with the stainless appliances just didn't match the rest of the place.
I think a cutting board is a great idea, but that one with the colander might be a little one-use. Bamboo ones are made from sustainable materials, long lasting, and very attractive for table use a...
That is simply awful. The only thing I like is that mosaic wall. Just goes to prove that money doesn't buy one good taste. 12,000 SF? I shudder to think what the rest of it must look like.

Uh...why are they only 27 cents? What is that good for?

Strawberry. Or blueberry. Or peach. Aaargh! I can't pick just one! All with vanilla ice cream!

I LOVE this. It is austere without being cold. Some plants and a rug in the living room might make it even nicer. Super cool for me.
I just love seeing an entry that's not MCM being voted as SuperCool. Well done!
I would include the spaghetti sauce recipe my Mom got (in the early 50s) from the little old Italian lady who lived downstairs.

Individually, I think each area is really nice, but as a whole it's lacking cohesiveness; there is not one element tying the rooms together.

Not at all. We had Bears season tickets for years. Poached pears? Yeah, right. We saw that A LOT. Spike and his stupid hats are next.
