Go with white, if you don't like it, it's an easy colour to paint over. :)
The old ones might look "dirty" but when you turn on the light, it's got a great soft tone that looks fantastic.
Just learn to live with it or buy a new one... or experiment.

Leave the finish as is, it looks great. Do work on the landscaping though... the outside really *is* just as important as the inside of the house.
