I really like this yellow color here, even though it's a little out there in terms of brightness. I think the cabinets are fine as they are. What's not working for me is the white wall...

1. Curtains on the window and the patio door, to match. 2. Rotate, if not the couch, at least the rug. 3. A an armchair and ottoman in the window corner, to make a cozy re...

I find this room a little distracting, but it's not the color (which is great). It's the furniture and layout. The main entry door is just right there smack dab in the middle of what should be a co...

As for college dorms, they could easily create two small singles in the same space as a double. And sound-dampen the walls. Or, replace the concept of dorms with student apartments -- ...

Kamaraderie's comment should serve as a reminder that it's a bad idea for anyone to live in a dorm, shared or unshared.

I like the suggestions of using the door (with a see-through shoe organizer) and the using the towel rail above the sink with hanging Ikea Asker containers. I also think that the space...

Well, *I* love a compact bedroom. No place for clothes and clutter = serene. If I had a walk-in closet, I'd put my bed in it for sure.

It looks awesome. What a happy color! The one thing that really bugs me, tho, is that left-hand upper cabinet door. It opened on the wrong side! Somebody please switch that!

For this space, I'd say go white. There is enough going on already that colors may just detract instead of adding to the charm. Like that green wall? Ugh.

Blue. A nice bright blue to bring out the red in the cabinets. It would also complement the gray walls.

AT did an article several months back about creating a foyer in a foyer-less space. It involved separating off the entryway with a screen or somesuch.

Not to nitpick, but... OK, OK, to nitpick: Is that tile actually called wainscoting? I thought wainscoting was wood paneling.

I think a tall, fairly deep shelving unit in that corner near the window would provide space for the laundry basket and containers, and perhaps also the guinea pig (?????).

I'm the umpteenth person to say it, but: THAT WALL IS BEAUTIFUL. It has SO MUCH PERSONALITY. Work WITH it, not against it. If the problem is too little light, perhaps you ...

1. That room does not have "no personality." It's charming and has really good bones. 2. It just needs a bit more color on the walls. 3. Make the window seat wider than th...

Of all the jarring colors going on here, I think the raisin and the gold are the biggest culprits. I rather like the rug, love the tables, and I think the sofa could work (or maybe sli...

Emily, it looks like the fridge could fit to the right of the doorway, in front of that high outlet. You'd have to move the table, maybe by turning it 90 degrees and placing it in front of the wind...

Perhaps that huge round rug from Ikea would be a suitabel substitute?

I like the blue-green combo, but would personally go for a more turquoise-aqua-teal blue, as suggested by one of the other commenters here. Or Salmon. And red or orange ac...

I would put the bed to the right of the kitchen, but *facing* the entrance. This is because I don't like being woken up by light from the windows. The headboard of the bed would be par...
