Bear - If you want to replace it, you should take the stone back to Williams Sonoma and they should replace it for you (if you cant get it clean). They have a lifetime guarantee on their products....
My favorite tool is my microplane grater, even though it is not the tool i use the most often. That would probably a simple pair of wooden chopsticks.
