To my eyes, it looks lovely and sunny and warm and friendly. I like the way you've separated the bed from the couch. Definitely cool.
@leanne, the shelf is a grill and the "wings" are handles to take the grill tray in and out. They're designed like that so you can enjoy the smell when you're grilling bacon... or something like that.
In France you're looking at about 150 to 600 euros in somewhere like Leroy Merlin or Castorama (I've never been to the States but from reading AT I guess that would be like Home Depot). "Designer" ...
