Sound proofing usually has a really porous core where the sound goes in and doesn't bounce back out or vibrate through. Sound travels the path of least resistance...so any normal size...

Maybe you could knife-off the top part and recover just that? That way you'd leave the groovy nail-head part and get what you want for the most visible seat surface. S
