I love grocery shopping, which is hard on the food budget (and the pantry shelves). I deliberatly have to keep a firm hand on my spending and browsing, lest I fill the fridge with more than we can ...

I've got chicken defrosting to grill for dinner, the sun is actually shining, and I picked up two lovely Tuscan cantaloupes for only $1.25 each-the fragrance of them is divine!

Would one need to go to a liquor store to find Lillet or is it considered a wine and thus available at the grocery? I'm in WA state if that helps...

I still love my pull-string Zyliss salad spinner. Had it for years and years. Every once in a while I consider giving it away, but really, nothing beats a salad spinner for drying greens.

I grow chives because I love scrambled eggs with fresh chives and a bit of cheddar. Nothing better than going outside to the herb patch, just a few steps from the front door and snipping some fresh...

I love my new Aspen dishes from Crate & Barrel. My sweetie was voting for Corelle, but I can't stand the stuff. My Aspen dishes are so lovely--nicely balanced, sturdy yet elegant. I bought one 20 p...

Huh. Try a Franziskaner Weissbier for a excellent German beer experience. Best off the tap...the bottled ones just don't hold a candle. Ditto the Ayinger, much better on tap.

I tried a friend's wii fit on Monday...today's Thursday and I'm still sore! That's a real work-out. It's on my wish list.

I use my Star peeler (bought from the ancient huckster at the county fair), and then slice a slab off each side of the oval seed. Once most of the flesh is off the seed, it's cut into bite size pie...

Hot? Not in Seattle it ain't! Tonight's dinner is baked chicken with apricot sauce, carrots au beurre, and sauteed mushrooms, zucchini and crook-neck squash.

I had the bowls on the left and they did get hot if micro'd for a long time (i.e. long enough to heat up soup). I have the clear glass made in France bowls from IKEA ($.79 here in WA) and they're f...

That's just so ... sad. That should be drunk by a calf, from its mom.

Sounds like serious yum! Love Campari, usually though, just with soda and a twist.

A local clam digger almost died digging for a geoduck when the sand sucked him in. Took hours to free him as the tide came relentlessly in...

For a while, my favourite snack was a pot of tea and toast with jam. Lots of jam. Sometimes, I'll add a spoonful of jam to the tea (a la Russian tea). Works best with cherry or apricot. Serious yum...

That's a lovely bowl! I have a tea pot and accessories that are similiar, oak inspired with gold accents. Might need to get that bowl for my newly remodeled kitchen...

I just use a pot of water and add some vinegar to convince the white to hold together. Works great and no extra gadgets needed.

To Caroline: did you chill them long enough? Not chilling enough would make them flat. Did you use butter?

Old news! Those have been around for decades. Used to use 'em to start seeds back in the 70's... Nice to see the Jiffys getting new blood though, gotta say!

That peeler is the best in the world. I love mine, it's easy to use and sharp. Better than any other, it makes peeling a delight.
