Does the salt ever burn?

We actually keep a shredder in the entryway, plugged in. Mail goes directly from mailbox to shredder. Very efficient.

I bartend at a jazz club, and we don't use foamer of any kind. To be perfectly honest, you can get a decent looking foam on most drinks if you know how to pour and shake the ingredients correctly.

I hope people remember this post next time the Pottery Barn, West Elm, and IKEA bashing happens.

We use a folding shopping cart for our recycling lined with a trimmed vinyl placemat to keep things from falling through the bottom. We live on the complete opposite corner from the trash room so ...

I live in Seattle, and have made several trips to Nanaimo, BC, and LOVE Nanaimo bars. At least I loved them until I developed an allergy to coconut.

Another good tip for avoiding seeds in eggplant- is to buy male rather than female! You can tell by looking at their little "button" on the bottom- females have an "innie" males an "outie". Prett...

We really like the Eric Carle animal alphabet flash cards (purchased on amazon for about $10). They are quite sturdy and colorful and I like that we can work on animals at the same time. There is...

I receive on a weekly basis multiple offers from credit card companies and charities that I've donated to a couple times in the past (I wish they would stop). I usually just take all my mail to wor...

We did as inkstained writer did - bare changing pad. The vinyl wipes clean, and then you don't have to worry about accessories or laundering.

so, puff pastry is never vegan? that can't be true.

Pretty please, may I have your sink?

Was this filmed in a store in Vegas? It looks like 90% of the furniture stores in this town *sigh*

The canisters are part of the Marta Stewart Collection at Macys!

the sad thing is that when you say you like modern furniture, this is often what you get.

funny, and so nasty.

Sorry, I find this clip horribly irritating. Ironically, I could totally see those brown sofas in an apartment therapy post.

I always thought the epitome of a total lack of style was the domain of generic family restaurant franchises.

"We don't have a theme, just a bunch of crazy crap on the walls!"

LOL! I think I've seen that store on Queens Blvd.

Using "Pottery Barn aesthetic" as a slam in a debut post??... yer OUT!

Is there any electrical code that dictates that rentals have to be grounded? Just curious.

Such a pleasant space, it isn't pretentious and looks very livable and cozy.

I LOVE this, what a great use of space and color.

(ps: don't be mad if I use your idea for the dresser turned record player / record holder... awesome idea)

Hhahha very entertaining!

Awkward sentences. Things tend to seem cooler when the writing doesn't try so hard to make them appear important. I wasn't excited or inspired. Not that all house tours should be mind blowing, b...

I'm happy at home because I'm able to work here. I don't feel any more stuck than if I were in the office. Also helps that I'm able to drive out of my street (though the major roads around me are...

Love the pic of your kitties, did I miss their names?
Enjoyed your home and loved all the colors. I did not think your kitchen looked small, seemed low on counterspace but not small.

Wow - beautiful! We need this kind of inspiration as we struggle between what we can afford and what we want.

I personally do not like Craigslist Houston. In my opinion it's mostly junk. But I dream on and keep reading.

I get the feeling I am looking at a Room and Board catalog. There are a few too many "design classics", but may just be jealous of the Barcelona chair.

But like niabassett, I just d...

Wow. A recycled post complete with recycled comments (from May, 2009). So much for "Home Hacks 2010."

The Wes and Kayla Show reruns are getting a bit tedious.

I'm at a loss for creative & witty words at the moment. Your loft is simply fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

Where did you find the galvanized bucket sink? I have been looking for one for our cabin.

Let me just say that the ROYGBIV arrangement of glass vases on the windowsill is ADORABLE...
...probably the best thing in the entire place.

Really like it, lots of interesting vignettes!
Like the use of metal.
Thanks.

Sniff, sniff...why can't I do this in my house.

This home is far out!! Love the dining room, sitting room, and best of all the sofa in the studio/craft room.

I, too, was out in the blowing snow this morning in Chi town and I have to say it is good to be wintering in a city that knows how to deal with snow.
I have been in Maryland for quite a few y...

If you're in a small place but want a dog for a deterrent, you might want to consider a Corgi. They are territorial and have much deeper voices than one would expect from their medium-small size. ...

I get SO MUCH JUNK MAIL, Kathryn. And while I do all paperless billing and have written to every "take me off your mailing list" contact I can find, I still get gobs of junk mail every day. Not to ...
